pam helps Merseyside Police restore community confidence

Despite only recently commencing rollout, the trusted secure pam cloud platform has already played a valuable part in helping Merseyside Police meet its community goals.

Several members of the Chinese community in Liverpool had come under a targeted attack. The victims were subject to a frightening threat of violence by criminals attempting to burgle their houses. Those who did forcefully gain entry threatened the victims with a range of weapons. To read the article on this from the Liverpool Echo, click here.

When we think of the Police and its role in a case like this, the first thought that comes to mind is the need to locate and arrest those responsible. However the Police are doing much more to safeguard us and address the root causes, especially for serious and organised crime.

In October 2013, the government laid out its 4’P’ strategy to Pursue, Prevent, Protect and Prepare around serious and organised crime. The aim of ‘Prepare’ is to reduce the impact of criminality where it takes place to “Ensure communities, victims and witnesses affected by serious and organised crime have the support which they need.” In essence, the hard work of Merseyside Police in investigating and handling this attack on the Chinese community went far beyond taking witness statements and chasing down the criminals.

Detective Chief Superintendent Paul Richardson and his team use pam to help enable delivery for much of its work in force and with partners, and achieve the goals outlined in the 4 p’s framework.

We were delighted to hear that the team at Merseyside restored the feeling of safety in the CaptureChinese community, and they had even received a letter of thanks. DCS Richardson said “pam enabled us to deliver a very quick and effective response to the burglaries against the Chinese community. It offered us co-ordinated management that fulfilled the 4 p’s framework laid out by the government’s Serious Organised Crime strategy. We were met with a community who felt significantly under threat from crime. We were able to transform them in to a community that felt safe and supported by the police. pam had a significant role to play in that.”

At Alliantist, we pride ourselves on pam’s ability to enable new ways of working that allow organisations like Merseyside Police and its partners to work better, together. Official Sensitive pam (previously IL3) is the only pan-government accredited platform of its type in the UK.  We are proud to be helping our blue light services and their partners get their work done well, saving and changing lives whilst reducing costs in the process.
