Collaboration capabilities needed for policing success

It is clear that police force collaboration is growing in significance as the forces seek to find their savings and continue to provide services of value. We are delighted to be involved in supporting forces in their collaborations.
Whilst many of the ‘partners’ (e.g. neighbouring forces) self select because of their geographic position, that should not be the only selection criteria and with digital solutions like pam, collaboration need not be be limited to local work. Indeed, it should not start with the partner either. In my book, Alliance Brand, I demonstrate that you will only fulfill the promise from any collaboration by meeting 3 critical success factors.

Three Critical Success Factors:

  1. Having a capability to partner yourself
  2. Having the right partners
  3. Having the right relationship architecture (and safeguards) underpinning the collaboration

Having a capability to partner:

The image demonstrates the capabilities that need to be in place for meeting that first critical success factor.

Given the amount of internal change going in in each force as well as the collaboration efforts, any failure to address these issues, might mean investments with another force or bluelight partner may be less fruitful.
