Alliantist stands out with its successful migration to ISO 27001:2013 using pam

Alliantist, the company behind the secure, cloud-based, collaboration platform pam, has reinforced its trusted credentials again and been accredited with the newest accolade in information security – ISO 27001: 2013, migrating from the previous 2005 standard.  What makes it more interesting is that the achievement has come by using its own innovative platform as the vehicle to deliver pretty much all of the Information Security Management System (ISMS) in a digital, paperless fashion.

Given the elegance of the implementation, the auditors described it as the best example of a 2013 system they had seen, building on the very complimentary ‘you are boring because we can’t find anything wrong’ comments in previous audits. The ISO 27001:2013 is a challenging system to maintain and integrate all the component parts, pam offers effective easy linking and digital collaboration with great visibility of all work.

This accreditation is a key contract requirement for all Community Rehabilitation Companies (CRCs) as part of the government movement to selling off parts of Probation, so pam is currently helping a number of CRCs to gain the accreditation. We are working closely with Staffordshire and West Midlands CRC and Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Rutland CRC to name but a few to help them gain the standard.

The increasing drive for all public services organisations to demonstrate strength in managing information is only going to continue to heighten. The most common failures and breaches of information security from paper based, fragmented system working will only increase as collaboration between organisations increases. Data from the Information Commissioner still points to public sector organisations as being the worst when it comes to information breaches.

Speaking about the success Alliantist CEO, Mark Darby, said:  “When we first set out on the journey to ISO 27001: 2005 a few years ago it was clear that there were no integrated workspaces where we could manage the whole ISMS in one place.  We wanted something easy to use and low cost to maintain, as such I decided we would develop pam for the job and it worked well.  We did another market review before migrating to the new ISO 27001: 2013 but pam was still head and shoulders above other disparate fragmented systems on the market.  As such our team adapted the platform again and we now have a beautiful management system that works so well many of our customers are adopting it too. I realised that it must be a major cost overhead and administrative nightmare for organisations relying on paper or fragmented digital systems.  I was not prepared to run our business that way, and we are delighted to be helping our customers lower their risk, drive out more cost and waste whilst delivering their own paperless systems.

pam’s unique collaborative capabilities and the fact that there are a lack of any other solutions that provide the same credentials as pam mean that Alliantist is now considering offering the pam ISO 27001: 2013 solution to the wider public services market.

Alliantist customers can have complete confidence in the organisation and the pam platform as well as its wider delivery network, where suppliers and partners are a key component of the new 27001: 2013 standard. Chairman of Alliantist, Frank Jones, said: “This accreditation, as well as the hard work and relationships we have built up over the years, is the proof of our most valuable commodity – trust.”
